Repatriation Process

Providing your family with the highest quality care and service in your time of need.

We take pride in our responsibility to lighten your burden as you take the first steps towards celebrating the life of your love done.

To learn more about the our repatriation process, feel free to read on below

1. Arrangements for Transportation

First and foremost, our funeral director helps you in arranging for the provision of a metal lined coffin or casket and crate suitable for transport by air and one that meets the International Air Transport Authority(IATA) standards. We also help you by processing  all necessary documents such as the death certificate of the deceased, transportation to the airport of departure and clearing all the local charges and taxes.

2. Security for your loved one

Your loved one’s security comes first at Lee Funeral Home.  We offer a secure service for the transportation of the remains by arranging with an airline to convey the remains to the designated airport. Our funeral director helps in clearance of the container through the import cargo department of the airline concerned after which we make the collections from the airport.

3. Time Management

Time management is a key factor that we observe through the repatriation process. We are normally in a position to give an estimate of the expected day of arrival of the deceased within two or three days of receiving the instructions to repatriate. However, plans for the departure of the deceased can be changed or entirely cancelled by an overseas local authority such as the coroner,a doctor or the police or in other cases, airport strikes, aircraft breakdown, bad weather or mistakes by loaders. In view of this circumstances, which are out of our direct control, we regretfully record that we cannot guarantee the arrival of your loved one on the stated time. In most cases, through thorough arrangements made by our funeral director, repatriation arrives on time.

4. Personal effects

In all cases of repatriation, we do the best we can to obtain and have dispatched, any personal effects left by the deceased in their current accommodation services. This may be a hotel, their house or their accommodation. We would like you to appreciate that until the personal effects are in our possession, then we cannot accept responsibility for their safety.
